Over 50 Members of Congress Join Effort

WASHINGTON – Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10) and Elise Stefanik (NY-21) announced the introduction of the bipartisan Success for Rural Students and Communities Act, along with Reps. Brett Guthrie (KY-02), Cheri Bustos (IL-17), Filemon Vela (TX-34), and Billy Long (MO-07). The bipartisan bill aims to improve college access and success for rural students by spurring innovation and investment in new strategies to prepare them to complete their credentials and step into high-demand jobs in their communities.

WASHINGTON – After the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump Administration acted illegally in its attempt to eliminate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program which protects approximately 10,000 Dreamers in the Central Valley, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) asked United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to clarify its plans for the future of the program and abandon efforts to sidestep the Supreme Court Ruling.

WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) introduced the Future of Agricultural Resiliency and Modernization (FARM) Act which would help farmers across the country to more effectively fight climate change. The bill would establish two new climate-focused initiatives to support the efforts of farmers on the ground. The first would provide over $2.5 billion in funding to help farmers reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, increase carbon sequestration, improve air, water, and soil quality, and convert agriculture byproducts to efficient uses.

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) secured a series of massive wins for Central Valley water storage and water research projects in the Moving Forward Act, the House's comprehensive infrastructure overhaul bill, which passed the House of Representatives today. The package includes Harder's provisions to support local water storage projects including Sites and Del Puerto Canyon Reservoirs, invest in water recycling, supplement research to increase water use efficiency, and provide support to farmers engaging in groundwater recharge.

Harder's district, two skilled elder care facilities have seen outbreaks which have resulted in deaths of their residents.
WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10), a member of the House Education and Labor Committee, delivered a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives calling on his colleagues to defend student loan borrowers. Earlier this year, the House and Senate took bipartisan votes to overturn a new rule proposed by Betsy DeVos which would make it more difficult for student borrowers who were victimized by for-profit colleges to get loan relief. However, President Trump vetoed the bipartisan, bicameral legislation.

WASHINGTON – Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10) and Elise Stefanik (NY-21) today led a bipartisan letter to Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Director Alex Azar urging him to extend his declaration of a public health emergency concerning the Coronavirus Pandemic. The emergency declaration has expanded eligibility for patients to receive routine health care through telehealth and telephonic care, allowing vulnerable and high-risk patients to avoid in-person visits to hospitals and health centers where they could be exposed to the Coronavirus.
