Press Release

WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Josh Harder (CA-10) announced that more than $16 million in federal assistance is immediately available for Central Valley families struggling with rent and utility payments. This includes $9.9 million for Turlock, Ceres, Riverbank, Oakdale, Patterson, Newman, Waterford, Hughson, and the unincorporated areas of Stanislaus County and $6.4 million for the City of Modesto.

“It’s heartbreaking how many of our neighbors are facing homelessness or bankruptcy because of this pandemic.” said Rep. Harder. “I’ve been fighting to bring more funding home for our families, and I’m thrilled we now have immediate access to another $16 million to keep families in their homes, keep their lights on and their water running.”

The funding was passed by Congress through last year’s funding bill and allocated to the Treasury Department for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). It will be distributed through the Stanislaus Regional Housing Authority. Applications for rental and utility assistance should be submitted to www.stanrentassist.com beginning on Wednesday, February 24th. More information on the program can be found here.
