Modesto, CA – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) today announced a $790,417.00 investment through the National Science Foundation (NSF) to allow the California State University System to improve science technology, engineering, and mathematics education at CSU Stanislaus, Bakersfield, and Fresno. The program will focus on the high rates of local air pollution as a tangible focus for the study of mathematics and chemistry.

Modesto, CA – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) today announced a federal Department of Education Investment of $443,308 to allow the Central Valley Opportunity Center (CVOC) to provide farmworkers with High School Equivalency Diplomas (HSEDs). This is the first annual installment of a five-year grant through the Department's High School Equivalency Program. The CVOC will provide 100 commuter farmworkers with the education necessary to earn an HSED each year.

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) is joining a coalition of Democrats from agriculture-reliant districts in asking Democratic leadership to continue negotiations on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and for a final bipartisan vote on the deal by the end of the year. The coalition of lawmakers believes the final deal should be bipartisan and include more oversight and accountability, but also certainty in trade markets for our farmers, retailers, and the trucking industry. WASHINGTON –In honor of the 29th anniversary of the passage of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10) and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) announced the Disability Employment Incentive Act to encourage businesses to hire and retain more workers with disabilities, including veterans. The bill would incentivize the employment of people with disabilities by doubling three existing tax credits for businesses that employ disabled workers.

Sixty-Three Percent of Students in Harder's District Qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) slammed a new proposal from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), which would take school lunches away from an estimated 265,000 American children living in poverty, making it harder for kids to get access to nutrition while in school. Rep. Harder is part of a joint effort with other members of the House Committee on Agriculture to express grave concern about the proposal.

WASHINGTON – After meeting with Central Valley students and parents, local educators and business leaders, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) introduced a massive bipartisan career education package designed to grow jobs in the Central Valley. The package consists of three bills, each of which addresses different needs within the career and trades education space. The federal government currently spends eighty times as much on four-year degrees as skills education.

Harder Will Introduce Education Bills in Coming Weeks

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) today questioned international experts on apprenticeship programs during a hearing in the House Education and Labor Committee. Rep. Harder is in the process of developing an education and skills package tailored to the needs of the Central Valley and developed from the input from educators and businesses on the ground. Rep. Harder will release his legislation over the coming weeks.

WASHINGTON – Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10), Rob Wittman (VA-1), Grace Napolitano (CA-32), and Morgan Griffith (VA-9) today introduced the Water Resources Research Amendments Act. The bill would reauthorize an expired program which supports local water research institutes that solve problems regarding water quantity and quality in collaboration with universities, local governments, the water industry, and the public.

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) has asked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to address new retaliatory tariffs on almonds with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a reported meeting next week. Rep. Harder's district is one of the largest producers of almonds in the country, and India is the top export destination for the product.
