WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) today announced a $274,000 federal investment to support students pursuing careers in agriculture at Stanislaus State. The funding, from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), promotes and supports recruitment into agricultural studies and agricultural science education.

Bill Expected to Pass House in Coming Months
WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10), a member of the House Education and Labor Committee, secured huge wins in a final comprehensive higher education bill, which passed the committee today. Congress is supposed to pass a comprehensive overhaul of all federal education programs every four years – but has not done so since 2008. Rep. Harder worked to include two original bills he authored in addition to several provisions he wrote or led alongside his Republican colleagues.
First Bipartisan Immigration Bill Introduced in House in Decades
WASHINGTON – Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10) and Susan Davis (CA-53) are commending efforts by Education and Labor Committee Chairman Bobby Scott (VA-03) to get answers from Education Secretary Betsy DeVos regarding her department's violation of a court order. Last week, a federal judge held Secretary DeVos in contempt of court for continuing to collect student loan payments from students of the now-defunct Corinthian Colleges, which operated campuses in California, Oregon, and Hawaii.

The bill would provide funding for hands-on skills education at after-school programs for students starting in elementary school. Forty-one percent of students express concerns about whether they will have the skills they need to find a job upon graduation.

One in Six Students at Stan State Juggle Parenting, Academic Responsibilities
Modesto, CA – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) today announced a federal investment of $273,266.00 to allow California State University, Stanislaus to quadruple the size of its Child Development Center (CDC), allowing more student parents to earn their degrees while parenting. The investment, through the Department of Education's Child Care Access Means Parents in School Program, will allow the CDC to expand from its current capacity of 30 children to 120.
