WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder's (CA-10) bill to combat the invasion of nutria, an invasive species of giant rodent, has passed the House Natural Resources Committee with unanimous support. The bill as amended would provide $12 million to nutria-impacted states, including California. Since the animal first reappeared in California in 2017, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife has removed over 800 animals from the Central Valley. Rep.

Modesto, CA – Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10) and Jim Costa (CA-16) announced the Expanding Medical Education Act to establish a grant program to assist colleges and universities in the establishment of new medical schools in underserved communities. The grants would be directed towards communities with fewer than 200 physicians per 100,000 residents and no accredited medical schools in the area.

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) today voted to pass the Farm Workforce Modernization Act, bipartisan legislation he cosponsored which would revamp existing immigration rules. Existing agriculture immigration programs have prevented farmers from securing the labor force they need and prevented farmworkers from earning a path to legal status.
