WASHINGTON – After pushing for months, Representative Josh Harder's (CA-10) bipartisan bill to fight the invasion of giant South American swamp rats passed the House of Representatives today with unanimous support. The bill would reauthorize an expired program that helped Maryland successfully run the invaders out of the Chesapeake Bay and allocate $12 million to help affected states. WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) will bring "Nellie" a stuffed Nutria to the House Floor tomorrow at approximately 1:15 EST during debate on his bipartisan bill to reauthorize a program which helps states like California battle the invasive species of giant swamp rats. In September, Rep. Harder brought the life-size taxidermy nutria to a Congressional hearing to illustrate the threat posed by the invader for his colleagues.

WASHINGTON – Today Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) sent a letter to Department of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos urging the Secretary to reconsider reported plans to permit colleges to selectively limit students' borrowing based on their field of study. Rep. Harder warned this action could not only disproportionally affect lower-income families who are more likely to need loans but would also restrict their ability to choose a field of study best suited to their interests or local needs.

"This budget is so absurd that I'm almost waiting for someone to yell April Fools. Literally less than a week ago the President said that he wants to protect health care at the State of the Union – but actions speak louder than words and today he put out a proposal that would cut $1.6 trillion from health care programs. This is terrible for the Valley and our families, and I'll fight these cuts tooth and nail."
