Modesto, CA – Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) announced the winners of his first annual Latino Leadership Awards in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. This year's winners include Yamilet Valladolid of Golden Valley Health Centers, Ariana Gonzalez of Modesto Junior College, and Marvin Jacobo of City Ministry Network. Rep. Harder also awarded a "Rising Latino Leader" award to Polet Hernandez, Dreamers Project Coordinator at Stanislaus State. Next week, Rep. Harder will hold a small, in-person awards ceremony to honor the winners.

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) today is calling on College Board CEO, David Coleman, to adapt testing protocol for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) to allow students to complete the exam during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Of 183,000 students scheduled to take the August exam, more than half were unable to take the test due to testing site closures and an unwillingness of the College Board to allow for online testing.

Modesto, CA – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) is encouraging his constituents to fill out the Census by tomorrow, September 30th. Although a pending court case may extend the response period, Rep. Harder wants to ensure that every person living in his district is counted in this year's Census. Each person who is not counted is estimated to cost their district about $2,000 every year in lost federal funding for schools, roads, and health care.

WASHINGTON – Today, two amendments introduced by Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) to help California protect the public from wildfires passed the House of Representatives as part of the Clean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act. The amendments focus on protecting electrical infrastructure and reducing the effects of smoke on outdoor workers. The bill containing the amendments will now be sent to the Senate for consideration.

Nursing homes in Rep. Harder's district have been hit hard by the Coronavirus Pandemic, and with recent procedural changes to the voting process, lack of access to support networks, and additional needs for many residents, voting may pose a significant challenge, including unintended clerical errors that may get a ballot rejected.
