WASHINGTON – Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10) and Paul Cook (CA-8) are leading a bipartisan coalition of California congressmembers in a letter asking House leadership to address looming cuts to a federal program which provides funding to hospitals which serve uninsured and underinsured patients. Medicaid's Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) payment program is designed to offset the costs hospitals bear in treating people without access to comprehensive insurance.

WASHINGTON – After holding 18 in-person town halls with constituents in the Central Valley, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) will hold his fifth telephone town hall tomorrow. These events allow residents of the 10th Congressional District a chance to ask questions, get answers, and get help with federal agencies. The event will begin tomorrow, November 19th, at 6:00 PM Pacific time and last about an hour.

WASHINGTON – Continuing efforts to root out corruption in Washington, Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10) and Max Rose (NY-11) introduced the Ban Corporate PACs Act, which would ban all corporate Political Action Committees (PACs). In the 2018 election cycle, corporate PACs gave more than $400 million to federal campaigns.

WASHINGTON – In a letter, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) asked the House Energy and Commerce Committee to hold a hearing on the failures of public utilities, such as Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) to invest in its infrastructure in the face of changing climate conditions and the frequency of extreme weather events. Wildfires in California are expected to cost the state $80 billion in total damage and economic losses this year and we're only midway through the fire season.

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) is educating his colleagues on the House Agriculture Committee on the devastating threat posed by swamp rats to Valley agriculture, environment, and infrastructure as the rest of the Washington establishment focuses on impeachment. During a hearing in the Livestock and Foreign Agriculture Subcommittee, Rep. Harder visually illustrated the exponential growth rate and cost of inaction in regard to the nutria – and compared it to another invasive species – the feral hog in the American South.

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder's bipartisan Protecting Families of Fallen Servicemembers Act has passed the House of Representatives on a unanimous bipartisan vote. The bill will allow the families of fallen and critically injured servicemembers to end their phone, cable, or internet contracts without being financially penalized. Ohio Republican Brad Wenstrup joined Rep. Harder to introduce the bill.

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) released the following statement as the Supreme Court heard oral arguments regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The program, created under the Obama Administration, protects over 10,000 young people in the Central Valley.

"I taught Dreamers at MJC – they're Americans in every way except on paper. One young woman I knew was carried over the border as a little baby but now faces an uncertain future.

Modesto, CA – Building on his commitment to accessibility, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) will host his 18th in-person town hall in Modesto during the upcoming district work period. This town hall will be focused on the issue of health care in the Valley. This event comes only a week after Rep. Harder's legislation to bring up to 10,000 more doctors to California passed the House Education and Labor Committee.

The event will give veterans a chance to meet with local employers as well as get help with interview preparation and resume review. Interested veterans should come dressed for interviews and have cover letters and resumes available.

Modesto, CA – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) is finishing the most effective week yet of his first year in Congress. This week Rep. Harder passed a legislative provision through the House and five more pieces of legislation through three different committees. Each of the bills which passed committee this week is expected to pass the House in the coming months. More than 90% percent of bills introduced this Congress have not cleared the committee milestone.
