WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) released the following statement today following the death of former Modesto Councilman Dave Lopez.

WASHINGTON – In a landmark win for the Central Valley, today Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) secured $14 million in investments for Central Valley and regional water projects in the bipartisan year-end funding deal. Harder has been pushing these projects both publicly and privately during House deliberation earlier this year and during the drafting of the final deal this month. WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) today voted to pass H.R. 3, the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act, legislation which would allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices and pass the same savings on to consumers on private insurance. The bill would cut costs for life-saving medications like insulin up to 75 percent and save Medicare $5 billion over ten years according to analysis by the Congressional Budget Office.

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) today voted to pass the Farm Workforce Modernization Act, bipartisan legislation he cosponsored which would revamp existing immigration rules. Existing agriculture immigration programs have prevented farmers from securing the labor force they need and prevented farmworkers from earning a path to legal status.

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) is introducing the Increasing Access to Mental Health Act, legislation which will modernize existing rules to expand access to mental health facilities in the Valley. It will also provide grant funding to help connect people with mental and behavioral health concerns with important services once they leave treatment. Current laws prevent facilities that provide mental health care from offering services to more than 16 people at once which limits access to much-needed care. Rep.

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) today announced $142,780 for the Housing Authority of Stanislaus County. The funding will provide housing as well as supportive services including health care, mental health treatment, and substance abuse counseling for chronically homeless and at-risk veterans and their families at a time when homelessness in the county is at a record high.

WASHINGTON – Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10) and House Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Mark Takano (CA-41) have sent a letter to Department of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos demanding answers about the status of student loan debt forgiveness for disabled veterans. Although the Trump Administration directed the department to discharge the loans of tens of thousands of totally and permanently disabled veterans, only approximately 3,300 have received forgiveness.
