WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) pushed Labor Secretary Marty Walsh to explain why the $2 billion passed through the American Rescue Plan meant for unemployment agencies like California's Employment Development Department (EDD) to prevent fraud, promote equitable access, and ensure timely payment of benefits has yet to be distributed.

WASHINGTON —Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10), Jeff Fortenberry (NE-1), Alma Adams (NC-12), and Chellie Pingree (ME-1) have introduced the Kids Eat Local Act, a bipartisan bill which would cut red tape and allow local schools to buy local foods. Federal regulations currently make it hard for schools to give preference to local farmers when buying food for school lunches. A bipartisan companion bill is also being introduced in the Senate.

WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) announced that more than $1.3 million in federal money is heading to the Central Valley for its Head Start programs. Central California Migrant Head Start will receive $799,675 and Stanislaus County will receive $533,618. The funds will be distributed by the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) and will go directly to funding both the Stanislaus and Migrant Head Start programs in the Valley.

WASHINGTON — Today, Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10) and Jared Golden (ME-2) re-introduced the Ban Corporate PACs Act which would ban all corporate Political Action Committees (PACs). In the 2020 election cycle, corporate PACs gave more than $400 million to federal campaigns, the most of any type of PAC.

WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is now accepting applications for funeral assistance of up to $9,000 per funeral and up to $35,000 total for Central Valley families who lost loved ones to COVID-19. Rep. Harder helped pass the funeral assistance program as part of the American Rescue Plan.
