WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-9) asked the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) for updated information on seasonal allergies and their impact on children and vulnerable populations. Rep. Harder, along with tens of thousands of his constituents, is struggling with severe sinus issues and watery eyes during what seems like one of the worst allergy years in Northern California.

WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-9) called on the U.S. Surgeon General to immediately address the hospital closure emergency and worker burnout cliff after the bombshell report released on April 13th. This report was commissioned by the California Hospital Association and sounded the alarm that 1 in 5 hospitals in the state are at risk of closure.

WASHINGTON - This morning, Representative Josh Harder introduced the Stop PG&E From Price Gouging During Emergencies Act to prevent utility companies from up-charging their customers during or after emergency declarations. The bill authorizes the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to penalize utility companies for taking unfair advantage of major disasters to increase prices.

WASHINGTON - Rep. Josh Harder’s office has seen an influx in requests from families needing help with expediated passports as summer vacations near. Rep. Harder has helped 56 people this year receive their backlogged passports, including expediting Jonathan Velez’s passport renewal just days before he was set to leave for his family vacation to South America. Velez submitted his passport renewal on January 13th with expedited processing and had not received it by March 8th when he reached Harder's office for help.

WASHINGTON - This afternoon, Representative Josh Harder (CA-09) demanded answers from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services during a House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies with ‘Nellie’, a taxidermied nutria, about their proposed funding cuts for controlling the invasive rodent population. Nutria are an semi-aquatic invasive species from South America that are easily recognized by their “nacho cheese” teeth that they use to chew through vegetation and water management systems.
