Safely disposing of unneeded medications can help prevent drug misuse and stop opioid addiction before it starts
WASHINGTON – Today, ahead of the 25th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Rep. Josh Harder (CA-9) is encouraging families to find their nearest take-back site and make a plan to safely dispose of unneeded medications. Between 10 AM and 2 PM on Saturday, most police stations in San Joaquin County will be accepting unneeded prescription drugs, no questions asked.
“We are losing too many loved ones to opioid overdoses and we need to do everything we can to prevent addiction before it starts,” said Rep. Harder. “If you have leftover, unneeded, or expired prescription medication at home, you can drop it off at any take-back site on Saturday – no questions asked. This is the safest way to get rid of dangerous medications and keep our families safe.”
To find the nearest drop-off site, folks can visit DEA.gov/takebackday. These locations will be accepting unneeded prescription medications from 10 AM to 2 PM this Saturday, October 28th. Below is a list of some of the locations in San Joaquin County:
- Stockton Unified School District Police Department at 640 North San Joaquin St in Stockton
- Lodi Police Department at 215 West Elm St in Lodi
- Tracy Police Department at 1000 Civic Center Dr in Tracy
This continues Rep. Harder’s work to protect San Joaquin families from opioid overdoses and fentanyl.
