After US Trade Representative Katherine Tai met with her Canadian and Mexican counterparts on Monday, Rep. WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) called on the US Forest Service to immediately address the low staffing levels of federal fire fighters by identifying incentives to hire and retain more firefighters. This comes on the heels of yet another deadly wildfire year ahead. Presently, 30% of federal hotshot crews, the most experienced and elite firefighters in the country, are understaffed.

WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) announced that his office has begun accepting applications to be nominated for US service academies. Applications are open until October 29th, 2021 for students graduating high school in spring of 2022. In order to attend one of the nation's prestigious military academies, a student must first be nominated by their member of Congress.

WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) announced that his office is partnering with Stanislaus County Public Health to host a vaccine clinic at El Rematito on the weekends of May 22nd and 29th. The clinic is open to the public with specific outreach for the Latino community who have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This event represents a new effort for Rep. Harder and the public health department to meet people where they're at in order to get everyone vaccinated.

WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) released the following statement on the ongoing violence in Israel:

"My heart breaks for the lives lost and homes destroyed by the violence in Israel. I condemn Hamas' indiscriminate attacks on peaceful men, women, and children. Israel has the right to defend herself against these attacks. Extremist forces in Jerusalem also must show restraint rather than escalate this violence. It's time to deescalate this crisis and secure a ceasefire in order to keep innocent Israelis and Palestinians safe."

WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) voted to pass the Comprehensive Debt Collection Improvement Act, which will provide important protections for Central Valley servicemembers, small businesses, students, and others against mistreatment and harassment by debt collectors. Importantly, this bill specifically bars debt collectors from threatening to reduce the rank or revoke the security clearance of American men and women in uniform.
