WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) is reintroducing the bipartisan Encourage New Legalized Immigrants to Start Training (ENLIST) Act, which would allow Dreamers to serve in the military and earn Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) status, also known as "Green Cards," for their service. Rep. Harder's Republican predecessor, Rep. Jeff Denham, wrote the legislation and worked to earn majority support for the bill in the last Congress.
WASHINGTON – In response to concerns from a local veteran's family about discrimination in homebuying, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) made an official inquiry with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regarding the agency's plans to fix the problem. Although the VA offers low-interest home loan rates, additional loan requirements often lead sellers to choose conventional loans over VA loans, and consequently leads them to discriminate against veterans. This means veterans are effectively prevented from buying a home.
WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) is continuing his mission to ensure that Central Valley veterans who need access to specialty care at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System have additional transportation options. Currently, veterans only have one opportunity per day to travel to the facility on VA-supported transportation. To expand options, Rep. Harder has already met with officials from the VA in Washington and Modesto and secured a commitment that additional vehicles will be provided.
WASHINGTON – Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10) and Elise Stefanik (NY-21) have introduced a bipartisan resolution to designate April 18th as Military Retiree Appreciation Day. The resolution would honor military retirees' commitment to lifelong service and dedication to their country. The Central Valley is home to over 1,600 military retirees.
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Rep. Josh Harder's bipartisan amendment to assist veterans and their families experiencing mental health emergencies.
Harder's amendment to the Veterans' Access to Child Care Act ensures that mental health crises are covered as one of the kinds of emergencies during which child care can be provided free of cost at VA Centers.
Washington, D.C. – Representative Josh Harder today announced he is launching a committee to advise him on how to best serve the Central Valley's veterans in Congress.
Harder's Congressional Veterans Advisory Committee will include veterans from diverse backgrounds and representatives from Veteran Service Organizations.
"Veterans from the Central Valley have bravely served us at home and abroad," said Harder. "As your Representative, it's my job to make sure Washington is focused on serving our local veterans' community."
