WASHINGTON – After the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) admitted it had not invested nearly $20 million in CARES funding to support state agencies, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) contacted the agency to demand they stop withholding aid. Nearly half of all Coronavirus fatalities across the country have occurred at nursing homes. In Rep. Harder's district, two skilled elder care facilities have seen outbreaks which have resulted in deaths of their residents.
WASHINGTON – Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10) and Elise Stefanik (NY-21) today led a bipartisan letter to Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Director Alex Azar urging him to extend his declaration of a public health emergency concerning the Coronavirus Pandemic. The emergency declaration has expanded eligibility for patients to receive routine health care through telehealth and telephonic care, allowing vulnerable and high-risk patients to avoid in-person visits to hospitals and health centers where they could be exposed to the Coronavirus.

Modesto, CA – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) today announced a total federal investment of $11,579,704 to help Central Valley communities combat homelessness during the Coronavirus Pandemic. The funds were authorized in the CARES Act and are being distributed through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Homeless Emergency Solutions Grant program. Funding includes $4,326,957 for San Joaquin County, $3,891,785 for Stanislaus County, and $3,360,962 specifically for the City of Modesto.
WASHINGTON – In response to a shocking report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) showing that more than three-quarters of nursing homes neglect to follow proper infection protocol, Representative Josh Harder contacted the agency responsible for regulating nursing homes, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), to ask for answers and urge immediate action.
WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) announced that this week he will introduce the Nursing Home Pandemic Safety Act of 2020, legislation which will require nursing homes to test residents and employees with the help of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The bill would require HHS to enter into contracts with test producers to procure tests specifically designated for nursing homes and skilled nursing homes. It would also explicitly require facilities to make tests available to residents and staff.
