Harder to Host Interior Secretary Deb Haaland for Virtual Event on Drought

The two will discuss new federal investments in water infrastructure & take questions from the media

WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) announced that he will be joined by the Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland for a virtual event focused on the state of California's water tomorrow September 8th at 2:00 PM PT. The two will discuss issues surrounding water in the Central Valley and the need for federal investments in water infrastructure and combatting drought. This comes as Congress works to pass President Biden's bipartisan infrastructure bill which includes $8.3 billion for western water storage and $1.15 billion specifically for water storage. It also comes on the heels of Rep. Harder securing $65 million in recommended funding for the Del Puerto Canyon Reservoir and Los Vaqueros Reservoir Expansion.

Since his first day in office, Rep. Harder has been a champion in the fight for water in the Central Valley. He has secured more than $65 million in new investments in Valley water infrastructure, stood up to Sacramento during tough decisions on the present drought emergency, and passed federal legislation to improve snowpack measurements to up to 99% accuracy.
