Harder Touts New Bipartisan PPP Extension Signed by President Biden

Press Release

MODESTO — Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) applauded President Biden for signing the bipartisan PPP Extension Act of 2021 into law. The extension ensures Central Valley small businesses will be eligible for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans through June 30, 2021. The loans have already saved nearly 100,000 Central Valley jobs and will continue to help businesses keep their doors open and make payroll until the end of the pandemic.

“When something works, you keep doing it. Businesses across the Valley have told me what a huge impact the PPP has had during this pandemic, and I’m glad to see the President sign this bipartisan bill to extend it through June,” said Rep. Harder. “Until our businesses can open up 100%, it’s up to us to provide them the support they need.”

Rep. Harder voted in favor of the bipartisan bill on March 16. President Biden signed it into law today. The text of the bill is available online here.

The PPP allows employers to apply for loans to keep their employees on payroll specifically during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Businesses may apply for forgiveness of the loans if they verify that the funds were used to keep employees and make payments, including mortgage interest, rent, and utility payments. More information on the program is available here. Information on business benefits specifically for Rep. Harder’s Central Valley district is available upon request.
