Harder Tapped to Serve on Influential Agriculture Task Force
25% of the country’s food is grown in the Central Valley
Rep. Harder will give Valley farmers a voice in Farm Bill negotiations
WASHINGTON – Rep. Josh Harder (CA-9) was appointed to serve on the new Task Force on Agriculture and Nutrition where he will fight for Central Valley farmers and make sure they have the resources to thrive in the 21st-century economy. The Task Force will also focus on protecting nutrition assistance programs that keep families from going hungry.
“The Central Valley is proud to be the country’s breadbasket. And yet for too long, our voices have been ignored in the halls of Congress,” said Rep. Harder. “I’m glad to be serving on this vital Task Force to make sure our farmers finally have a say in the important Farm Bill and nutrition programs. Let’s get this done.”
Rep. Harder served on the House Agriculture Committee for his first two terms. He’s proud to fight for San Joaquin County farmers through his work in the House. Harder will serve on the Task Force alongside Chair Bennie Thompson (MS-02), Chellie Pingree (ME-02), Jim McGovern (MA-02), Mark Pocan (WI-02), Lou Correa (CA-46), Sharice Davids (KS-03), Jahana Hayes (CT-05), and Kim Schrier (WA-08).
