Harder Statement Supporting Early Ag Worker Access to Vaccines
WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) released the following statement regarding the sequencing of vaccine distribution in California.
“Ag is too often left behind in policy discussions and our farm workers get lip service instead of the help they need. It’s not enough to call farmworkers “essential” if you’re not going to treat them as essential.
“As the state develops its vaccination timeline, they should have a broad definition of ‘agriculture workers’ and make sure that folks who conduct the work in the fields and food processing plants are high in the 1B tier of vaccine access. Doctors and nursing home residents should remain in the top tier, but we have to make sure our ag workers get the care they deserve.”
