Harder Secures $500,000 for Construction of State Route 99/120 Interchange Connector
San Joaquin County has some of the longest commute times in the country, with over 24,000 residents spending more than 1 ½ hours in their car every day
The expansion of the 99/120 connector will reduce traffic congestion and improve safety
WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-9), a member of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, announced that he secured $500,000 for the expansion of the State Route 99/120 Interchange Connector. This project will widen the 99/120 freeway interchange on both sides and create a new merge/weave lane to improve safety and reduce traffic congestion.
“We have some of the longest commute times in the country. We’ve got to reduce traffic and cut down the time people spend in their cars,” said Rep. Harder. “This federal funding for the next phase of the State Route 99/120 connector gets us one step closer to completing this important project and getting people home to their families quicker.”
"On behalf of the San Joaquin Council of Governments Board of Directors and the San Joaquin One Voice delegation, I want to thank U.S. Rep. Josh Harder for seeking $500,000 for the State Route 99/120 Connector Phase 1B project. It was signed into law as part of the federal funding bill and brings us closer to delivering the second phase of the project," said David Bellinger Chair, San Joaquin Council of Governments Mayor, City of Escalon.
Specifically, the 99/120 freeway interchange project will widen the connector from northbound State Route 99 to northbound State Route 120 from one lane to two lanes, create a merge/weave lane on westbound State Route 120 between State Route 99 and the Main St Interchange, and replace the connector between eastbound State Route 120 and northbound State Route 99 with a new structure allowing for two westbound lanes.
