Harder Encourages San Joaquin Residents to Make Their Voices Heard As Army Corps of Engineers Finally Agrees to Hear From Public on Delta Tunnel Project
For months, Rep. Harder has been pushing the Army Corps of Engineers to hold a public in-person town hall to hear from the community about the Delta Tunnel water grab
WASHINGTON – After Representative Josh Harder (CA-9)’s months-long push, the US Army Corps of Engineers reversed course and agreed to host an in-person forum TOMORROW, Wednesday, March 1st at 6:00 PM at the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel in Stockton. Rep. Harder is encouraging members of the community to attend and make their voices heard. He has held two Water Town Halls this year in French Camp and Lodi, where hundreds of residents expressed their opposition to the Delta Tunnel water grab.
Earlier this month, Rep. Harder sent a letter on behalf of concerned members of the San Joaquin community opposing the Delta Tunnel and criticizing the Army Corps for refusing to host an in-person town hall to discuss the project. Harder’s letter came after he hosted a Water Town Hall attended by more than 150 community members who expressed unanimous opposition to the Delta Tunnel water grab.
“While I’m glad they finally agreed to hold an in-person event to hear from San Joaquin families about the Delta Tunnel project, this is only step one. Step two is killing this project once and for all,” said Rep. Harder. “I’ll continue to say it loud and clear – we will not let them take our water. I encourage members of our community who want to make their voices heard on the Delta Tunnel project to attend tomorrow’s in-person meeting with the Army Corps of Engineers.”
Rep. Harder has long stood against the Delta Tunnel project and will continue hosting public Water Town Halls to hear from the community.
