Harder Announces New Program to Provide Families a $30 Per Month Discount on Their Internet Bill

WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Josh Harder announced that the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law he helped write last year, is now accepting applications. Rep. Harder is encouraging all Central Valley families to apply to the program by going online to getinternet.gov to save $30 per month on their internet bill.

“It’s getting way too expensive to live and raise a family in the Valley, plain and simple,” said Rep. Harder. “I’m encouraging every family to go online and apply to save $30 a month on their internet bill because I know every dollar counts right now. I helped turn this bill into law last year, now I want every family in our community to get the savings they deserve.”

More than 1,300 internet service providers are participating in the program, including the nation’s twenty largest providers.

Families may qualify in three ways:

1. A household income of less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Line;
2. Someone in the household participates in:
   • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as Food Stamps
   • Medicaid
   • Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
   • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
   • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
   • Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit
   • Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program, including at U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Community Eligibility Provision schools
   • Federal Pell Grant (received in the current award year)
   • Lifeline;
3. Someone in the household meet the eligibility criteria for a participating broadband provider’s existing low-income internet program.
