Harder Announces Nearly $14 Million for San Joaquin County Head Start to Support Preschool-aged Children
Head Start programs support the health and well-being of children and set them up for success in school
WASHINGTON - Today, Representative Harder announced the San Joaquin County Office of Education will receive a $13,951,807 federal grant for its Head Start programs supporting children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old. Head Start provides school readiness, social development, and health services for young children while they are in their prime of early development. Head Start program partners include the Child Abuse Prevention Council of San Joaquin County, Creative Child Care, Inc., Lodi Unified School District, and Stockton Unified School District.
“I can’t think of a better investment than our kids’ futures. This federal funding will make sure San Joaquin County families can start their little ones off on the right foot,” said Rep. Harder. “I’m proud to announce we’re bringing another $14 million home for Head Start programs to set our kids up for success and keep San Joaquin County a great place to raise a family.”
Rep. Harder is a proud champion of the Head Start program. Last year, he announced a $25.8 million grant for San Joaquin County Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Read more about the Head Start program here.
