Press Release

WASHINGTON – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10), a member of the Education and Labor Committee, released the following statement on the resignation of Labor Secretary Alex Acosta. Earlier this week, Rep. Harder called for Acosta’s resignation in the wake of new charges against Jeffrey Epstein and the Department of Labor’s failure to support investigations of sexual misconduct.

“Alex Acosta has proven he has no business running anything. Good riddance. He’s spent years letting sex traffickers and child abusers off the hook for their crimes. This important step is thanks to the outcry of communities like the Central Valley and elected officials who refused to give him a pass.

“Whoever takes over for him should commit to protecting our workers and supporting federal investigations into sex traffickers.”
