Coronavirus Resources for Seniors
The Coronavirus is a once-in-a-generation crisis, and it’s already wreaking havoc on day-to-day lives of seniors. The news is scary, and a lot of folks have more questions than answers. Here are some resources that I help you as we all figure out what comes next. If you have any questions or need help - please don’t hesitate to get in touch with my office: Harder.House.Gov or 202-225-4540.
The state of California now has a new hotline to connect seniors with resources. For information, call: 833-544-2374.
ARE YOU UNABLE TO GO THE GROCERY STORE?
Our community is taking steps to make sure that seniors are still able to get food without putting themselves at risk. There are multiple organizations in our district that are facilitating grocery rides and meal pick ups.
IN STANISLAUS COUNTY
The Stanislaus County Commission on Aging is offering pick up meal services and meal delivery from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM daily. For more information call 209-558-8698.
IN SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
The Tracy Senior Association is facilitating grocery pick ups for seniors and offering rides to grocery stores. For more information call 209-815-1101.
ARE YOU CONCERNED THIS MAY AFFECT SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS?
While Social Security workers are teleworking to protect their health and prevent the spread of disease, Social Security remains OPEN, while the physical offices are closed. If you need to reach the agency, you can call 1-800-772-1213. If you have an in-person meeting scheduled, it will most likely be rescheduled as a phone meeting. But remember, Social Security will NEVER ask you for money or your Social Security Number over the phone.
I know this is a trying time. If there’s anything you need please reach out to my office at Harder.House.Gov or 202-225-4540.
