This Information Center will connect Tracy PD with the information they need to catch criminals faster and keep families safer

WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Josh Harder (CA-9), a member of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, announced that he secured $391,400 for the Tracy Police Department to create a Real Time Information Center that will help law enforcement officers respond to crimes as quickly and safely as possible. This funding will allow police to use current and evolving technologies, as well as gather information from officers who are out in the community to identify crimes in progress and coordinate a response that is more efficient, deliberate, and safer for the community at large.

“Our police officers put their lives on the line to protect our families, and they should have access to everything they need to quickly respond to criminal activity,” said Rep. Harder. “This new Real Time Information Center will centralize vital information to help the Tracy Police Department respond more quickly and stop crimes in progress.”

"The implementation of the Real Time Information Center will provide the Tracy Police Department and our officers with vital intelligence and resources necessary to respond to crime events with increased efficiency and precision. This initiative underscores our proactive commitment to service, integrity, and excellence, ensuring the safety of our officers, residents, and the entire community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Representative Harder for securing the funding for this crucial project and his unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of our community,” said Tracy Police Department Acting Chief Octavio Lopez.

This Real Time Information Center will support the Tracy Police Department’s mission for intelligence-driven policing. This new center will also utilize data collected by the license plate reader technology Rep. Harder secured funding for in 2022. Those readers have led to the arrests of multiple dangerous criminals.
